App review sentiment analysis

App review sentiment analysis classifies feedback, but it becomes actionable only when combined with stars, topics, app version, language, device and mention counts.

Updated 7 min

Start with stars and volume

Compare total reviews and average rating out of 5 with the previous period, then separate positive, neutral, negative and critical feedback.

Group specific entities and topics

Track feature names, devices such as Google Pixel 8 or Samsung S24, versions such as 2.4.1, and topics such as login, payments, sync or notifications.

Segment by team

Product needs requests and trends, engineering needs bugs by version and device, support needs urgency and history, and growth needs rating movement.

Define thresholds

One 1-star review may be isolated. Ten mentions of the same failure after a release justify an alert. Document the volume and period, such as 5 mentions in 24 hours.

Keep entries short and scannable

Each finding should include the topic, review count, star distribution, affected versions and one recommended action.
